Trails For All
|
A hard working and amiable crew of seven volunteers cleared 2.3 miles of Lion Canyon Trail in the Wet Mountains on August 11. It's definitely ready for trail users to explore this beautiful trail topping out in Locke Park on Locke Mountain (our suggested spot for lunch under a few massive ponderosa pines with fantastic views all around). FYI--stay alert; we did encounter two rattlesnakes mating on the trail!

The 6th Annual Valley Strong Community Dinner is just a few weeks away! It's the one day a year when our most beautiful views aren't to the east or the west - they're right across the table. On Wednesday, September 21, we will come together to celebrate our special community and all that makes us Valley Strong.
Valley Strong is FREE! There is no charge to host a table or attend! We are organized by volunteers and funded by donations from our generous neighbors and local businesses. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift securely online.

Do you challenge yourself? What type of person are you? Are you the type of person that always says, “I can’t?”
The majority of people in this world when faced with something new and uncomfortable will say “I can’t.” They don’t know if they can do it because they haven’t tried, but they tell themselves that they can’t, so they are not even willing to try. This mentality can apply to every aspect of life. Maybe you tell yourself that you can’t cook. Maybe you tell yourself that you can’t walk to the end of your driveway. Maybe you tell yourself that you can’t lose weight or do a push up. When was the last time you tried? When we get into the mentality of telling ourselves that “we can’t,” we end up getting into the habit of not even trying anymore. We start limiting our potential and we limit what we do in life because it is out of our comfort zone. Maybe you can eat healthy and remove the processed foods from your diet. How will you know if you keep telling yourself that you can’t? When you try something that you have been telling yourself that you can’t do for so long, you end up waiting for the failure. You are anticipating telling yourself “I told you so” I knew I couldn’t do it. You need to stop telling yourself that you can’t do something without trying it. You need to have more faith in yourself and your ability to succeed at whatever you put your mind to do. Maybe you can do a push up or two or three. When was the last time you tried? |
Maybe you do have time to cook if you stay off of social media more or don’t sit in front of the television. Maybe you can walk to the end of your driveway. You will never know if you don’t try. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies because we set ourselves up for failure by believing that we can’t. We give up on our own abilities. We stop trying for fear of failure. Think of all the great inventions and discoveries out there that would have never happened if those people kept telling themselves that they couldn’t do something?!?
Get into the habit of challenging yourself. Get into the habit of pushing yourself more. Push yourself out of your comfort zone because that is where miraculous things happen!! You have unlimited potential and possibilities ahead of you if you just stop the negative talk in your own head. If someone else is telling you that you can’t achieve something or can’t do something, well then that person needs to go. Surround yourself with people that are going to lift you up, not hold you back or tear you down. We do enough damage to ourselves in our own heads. We don’t need anyone adding to that. Just remember anything is possible and you are capable of achieving so much if you just try!! |
