Welcome To The 24th Issue of Volume 2!
American Legion Family Honors Those That Served With Christmas Party For Veterans and Their Families
Christmas in the Wet Mountain Valley is in full-swing, and last Saturday, December 10, Veterans and their families were guests of honor during the Christmas party sponsored by the American Legion Post 170 family.
Members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 170 prepared a delicious spaghetti dinner complete with tossed salad, garlic bread, and a sheet cake. There were over 70 folks that broke bread, shared stories, and played a game of Christmas and Service trivia. The competition was fierce, but the United States Air Force (USAF) reclaimed the trophy from the US Army for the win.
The Auxiliary also put Christmas gift bags together for all in attendance. On behalf of the entire Legion family, we want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a blessed and prosperous New Year! Thank you for your service and Welcome Home!

Christmas Lighting Contest in Silver Cliff and Westcliffe, This Weekend
Don’t forget about the Christmas Lighting Contest! Categories are open for both residential and businesses with CASH PRIZES!
To enter, all that is needed is to be located inside the city limits of Silver Cliff or Westcliffe and decorate the exterior of the dwelling in some fun, creative, lights.
Judging will happen on Saturday, December 17 and Sunday, December 18. Have fun and let’s see the towns shine this winter season!

Volunteers Needed to Honor Veterans Who Have Passed
To our Community:
The American Legion, Post 170 is hosting Wreaths Across America, honoring our fallen Veterans on December 17 by placing wreaths on all Veteran Graves in our area.
There are 5 Cemeteries and a total of 336 Veteran Graves. This is a community event and are looking to have every able-bodied member volunteer to assist in placing wreaths.
The protocol is to place a wreath at a Veterans grave, say their name, and salute them.

to sign up as a volunteer: Select “VOLUNTEER”; at the next page select the Cemetery you wish to support; at the next page select who Is attending and enter your name and email, select SUBMIT MY REGISTRATION.
This will allow us to pass on valuable information to all volunteers.
Also, invite your friends and other family to volunteer as well.
The more people, the more memorable.
