Welcome To The 86th Issue of the Valley Beat
This Saturday, March 20 is Meatless Day Per Gov. Polis; Colorado Ranchers Disagree
Governor Polis proclaimed March 20 a Meatless Day, but Custer County CattleWomen are
celebrating the $7 billion Colorado livestock industry on that day with a Meat and Greet Event.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, in front of the Salty Pine Floral & Boutique at
411 Main Street, Custer County CattleWomen will host a Meat and Greet Celebration where
members will be handing out free hamburger sliders (while supplies last), beef stickers, and
information. Beef is being provided by local producer, Prime Time Beef (The Rusk Family).
Today Colorado is home to 13,000 beef cattle producers, nearly 3 million head of cattle, 206
feedlots and 24 USDA certified slaughter plants. Colorado is the fourth largest exporter of fresh
and frozen beef in the United States. The cattle industry also has a long and proud legacy in the
state of Colorado and Custer County.
Rather than discourage Coloradoans to eat less meat, Custer County CattleWomen want to
promote the healthy benefits of meat protein and to highlight the economic contribution the
industry makes to our state.
Please come out this Saturday, March 20, and show your support for all the cattle ranchers
across the state. Local producers will be all along Main Street handing out beef and meat
products. Additionally, the Custer County Republican Central Committee will be in the Custer
County School west parking lot, handing out free ice cream, courtesy Sugarlump Co. Come out
and meet Republican candidate for Governor in 2022, Danielle Neuschwanger, talk to District
Attorney, Linda Stanley, and other local officeholders.
