In honor of Raymond Watkins

Raymond Dale Watkins, age 81, left this world on March 29, 2020. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma, August 20, 1938, the son of Raymond L. and Winniefred Drake Watkins.
On July 18, 2008, he married Teresa LeClercq (Terri), who survives at home. He is also survived by five children, James, Kevin, Evie, Stephanie, Karen; two stepchildren, Moria, and John, two adopted children Michael and Jessica; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, cousins in OK and TX, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Marjorie, son Gregory, daughter in law, Jennifer, and his beloved fur child, Alice (March 18, 2020.)
"She romped through the grass without even a care until one day she stopped and sniffed the air. For just at that moment their eyes met. Together again both Ray and Alice. The sadness they felt the few days they were apart has turned into joy in each other's heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever; then side by side, human hand in paw, they cross the bridge together."
A Celebration of Life will be August 20th at the Day Use Area at Lake DeWeese. Everyone is welcome. Bring your fishing pole; Ray will be there in spirit.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to WMAW. www.wetmountainanimalwelfare.org or your favorite animal shelter.
Arrangements by Holt Family Funeral Home. Online condolences, www.holtfamilyfuneralhomes.com.

Memorial Day ceremony cancelled this year due to COVID-19 virus

I know everyone is aware of the cancellations and changes brought on by Covid-19.
Recently, several members of the Executive Committee & Honor Guard held a brief meeting and
discussed our Memorial Day Services scheduled for 25 May 2020 at Silver Cliff Park. It was
decided that we would not have enough time for practice, set up, and advertising, etc., IF and
WHEN the "Stay at Home" directive was lifted.
We made the decision to cancel the Memorial Day service on 25 May 2020.
We look forward to setting up an even more fabulous Memorial Day Service in 2021.
Be Safe and have a Blessed Easter.

- Carol Kennedy, Post Commander
The American Legion Post 170, Westcliffe
