Star Festival cancelled this year due to COVID-19
Dear Star Festival Crew and Community Supporters,
As COVID-19 sweeps the nation and disrupts all patterns of life, we extend wishes of comfort, health and security to everyone. While we were very much looking forward to hosting the inaugural Sangre Star Festival in June, too much remains uncertain. We just don’t feel comfortable to bring over 400 people together from 20 states during this unprecedented time. We need to do what is best for the welfare of our citizens…it is with great sadness we have decided to postpone the inaugural event until a future date in another year to be determined.
An email has gone out to all registered ticket holders and Dark Sky Defenders to notify them of this decision. Who could have ever imagined that something of this magnitude would impact everything! Though we cannot physically come together to celebrate our dark skies, we hope we may still raise money for the STEM Scholarship Fund with the ticket fees being donated instead of refunded.
There is a limited supply of the exclusive, glow-in-the-dark, festival tee available selling for $35 including sales tax plus $10 to priority mail. Don’t delay if you want to be one of only 320 people on the entire planet Earth to own this unique tee shirt from the 2020 twilight zone! (Photo attached)
We will be in touch about our revised future plans for celebrating our Dark Sky Community. If anyone has any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. My spirit is sad and my heart is heavy but I know this was the right decision to make. We shall shine brightly another time, another year when this nightmare is a distant memory. Stay healthy and be safe!
