Sol Vista offers community a survey to check on our well-being

Survey Designed to See How You Are Doing
Solvista Health has teamed up with Custer County Public Health (CCPH) to create a way to “check-in” with community members and see how they are doing during the Stay at Home order issued by the Governor and CCPH. Visit the Custer County Public Health Agency or Solvista Health Facebook pages to find the survey.  Or, click here, Custer County Community Check In.

Solvista and Emergency Management wanted to find a way to take the pulse of the community in a way that allowed them to use the anonymous feedback to create meaningful resources, outreach efforts and solutions. “It is important for Public Health and Emergency Management to know how you are doing,” said Elisa R. Livengood, director of Custer County Public Health. “This survey will allow us to gain a better understanding of the needs in the community and adapt our response accordingly.”

The survey only takes about three minutes to complete.  Questions focus on how people are practicing and coping with physical distancing; ways people are staying socially connected; and what types of resources people need in this time.  The data will be collected and used to target resources.

If you have questions about the survey, call Custer County Public Health at 719-783-3369. If you are struggling emotionally and need someone to talk to, call Solvista Health at 719-539-6502 or text TALK to 38255.

Children’s Health Fund Committee Awards $35,650 in 2020 Grant Cycle Year

The 2020 Grant Cycle Year for grant submissions addressing children’s physical, emotional, social, and recreational health programs was very successful.   The Children’s Health Fund Committee received 15 grant submissions from local agencies or nonprofit organizations for children’s programs.   Thanks to generous support from our major supporter, the High Mountain Hay Fever Association, and support from private donors and the Spirit Campaign, we were able to fund 11 programs in full for the year 2020.  Following is a list of the agencies and nonprofits funded and their respective programs:

 High Altitude Garden Club:
Gardening for Kids

Custer County Schools:
Pedometers for Fitness Tracking

Summer Fun and Food

Solvista:
Youth Mental Health First Aid

Valley Parks and Rec:
Hygiene Products for the Backpack Program

Tennis Lessons for Kids

Public Health:
Dental Care

Hearing Screening for Preschoolers

Altitude Community Fitness:
Parent/Child & Preschool Swim Lessons

Preschool Gymnastics

Trails For All:
Sangre de Cristo Environmental Education

The committee genuinely appreciates the community support both with financial assist and well-developed programs for the children of our community.  We continue to see an increase in interest and energy for program offerings for our children and hope to remain a viable source for funding for years to come.
Thank You.   The Children’s Health Fund Committee
